DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS & MEDIA

This Director is responsible for developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies to advance the mission, goals, and activities of the Alumnae/i Association Executive Board and Alumnae/i Association.   The Director produces copy and visual content for the AAEB’s website and social media accounts, emails,  newsletters, blogs, press releases and  any AAEB branding materials. ​Role and Responsibilities include : ​ -Write/Design/Produce  internal and external AAEB communications including press releases  -Develop and implement communications/marketing strategies and social media content calendar designed to further the mission, goals, and activities of the Alumnae Association -Help evolve Alumnae Association communications and identify opportunities for growth as technology evolves -Develop branding guidelines and manage branding opportunities  -Meet monthly and work with Director of Alumnae/i Engagement -Support Advancement’s relevant content by posting on our social media  -Maintain and update the AAEB website   -Recruit and Oversee a committee or individual volunteers to support communication efforts  -Manage Student Intern: participate in hiring, delegate tasks and responsibilities, review performance in writing as required by Ifill College internship program -Develop and manage a budget for annual operation -Attend scheduled activities of the University Alumnae Association Executive Board and promote the mission and spirit of the University and Alumnae/i Association.                                                            -Submit reports for Association Board meetings -Introduce any relevant resolutions for Board action Qualifications:  -Earned undergraduate degree from Simmons University.   -Previous experience working with communications, journalism, graphic design, public relations and/or marketing  -Experience or interest in developing skills in online content creation in Canva for Alumnae/i Association’s Wix website and social platforms -Attends all meetings of the Executive Board as well as other scheduled meetings   -Devotes necessary hours on Association business and activities  -Annual donor to the Simmons Fund of the University   -Active in Alumnae/i  Association activities

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Term Duration: 3 years 

The Director of Operations is an active participant in the business of the Executive Board. Responsibilities include maintenance of minutes and records for the Board and the Association and development, implementation and maintenance of marketing and research . They will be involved in the planning and execution of monthly meetings of the Board with the Co-presidents and the keeper of the minutes and official actions of the Board. Role and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: -Attend and record all regular and special meetings of the Alumnae Association Executive Board -Responsible for the preparation of correspondence, both electronic and regular, on behalf of the Co-Presidents and the Executive Board, with the exception of letters from the Co-Presidents -Collaborate with the Office of Alumnae/i Relations to share Board information -Maintain attendance records at meetings and coordinate with Treasurer for compliance in audit -Develop and maintain data bases such as repository and intra-communications network -Manage virtual and technical production of events and meetings -Distribute agendas, resolutions, minutes and other appropriate information at least 1 week prior to the Alumnae Association Executive Board meetings. -Prepare, compile and present minutes and records of the Association Annual Meeting event at Annual Meeting each June -Attend scheduled activities of the Alumnae Association Executive Board and promote the mission and spirit of the College and Alumnae Association -Introduce any relevant resolutions for Board action Qualifications: -Earned undergraduate degree from Simmons University. -Strong English language and writing skills required. -Strong technical and computer skills -Attends all meetings of the Executive Board as well as other scheduled meetings. -Devotes necessary hours on Association business and activities. -Annual donor to the Simmons Fund of the University. -Active participant in Alumnae Association activities.

Vice President

Term Duration: 2 years 

The Vice President shall serve directly under and when designated or necessary in stead the President; shall assume the duties of the President in the absence of the President; shall ascend to president after a 2-year term, or fill the office of presidency for the unexpired term in the event of a vacancy in that office; shall serve as Chair of the Bylaws Committee;draft, collect and present resolutions and shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as may be designated by the President or the Executive Board. Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: -Provide leadership in establishing, accomplishment and evaluation of the Mission and Goals of the Alumnae Association -Provide direct support and oversight to designated Committees. Assemble Committee Resolutions in conjunction with Operations during Board Meetings -Be aware of Alumnae/i Association Directors activities and responsibilities, provide advice or input as needed -Represent the Alumnae Association at functions of SimmonsUniversity , as requested -Provide leadership in the areas of Maintain contact with members of the Executive Board between meetings to lend support where needed -Work with the Director of Alumnae/i Association and Alumnae/i Association /OARAG Liaison to provide input on matters affecting undergraduate alumnae -Work closely with the Treasurer of the Association to review accounting procedures and major financial expenditures and accomplishments of the previous year -Review bylaws of the Association as necessary and /or directed by the Executive Board, and recommend changes or revisions as needed. Bylaws are to be reviewed at least every 5 years. -Promote the importance of giving to the Simmons Fund and achieve 100% giving participation from all board members -Work on special projects as assigned and/or necessary to meet the strategic goals -Attend Alumnae/i Association activities including but not limited to, Executive Board Meetings,, Convocation and select student and senior class events -Attend scheduled activities of the Alumnae/i Association and promote the mission and spirit of Simmons and Simmons Alumnae/i Association -Submit reports for the activities of the President and Vice President for the Association Board meetings Term: 2 years and 2 years as president Qualifications: -Earned undergraduate degree from Simmons University -Attends all meetings of the Executive Board as well as other scheduled meetings -Devotes necessary hours/week on Association business and activities -Annual donor to the Simmons Fund of the College -Active in Alumnae/i Association activities -Experience in a leadership role in employment or volunteer position a plus -Willing to assume the duties of President in the event of a vacancy

Director of Athletics

The Director of Athletics works closely with the Directors of the Alumnae Association Executive Board to strengthen relationships among alumnae/i of the various Simmons College athletic programs with the Alumnae Association. The Director of Athletics will lead a committee whose purpose is to attend student and alumnae/i events on behalf of the Alumnae/i Association which celebrate the current, historic and future success of the various athletic programs of Simmons. The committee should be comprised of members who desire to re-engage alumnae/i of the various athletic programs of the College. The Director will work closely with the Alumnae Association Directors and the Liaison in the Office of Alumnae/i Relations. Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: -The Director should introduce themself and build continued relationships with the sports team leaders on campus and become familiar with student and alumnae events related to sporting events and sports-related reunions -Chair the Athletics Committee, members of which should be comprised of members who desire to re-engage alumnae/i of the various athletic programs of the College; the committee may include but is not limited to or required to include alumnae/i of the various Simmons College sports programs. -With the Office of Alumnae/i Relations Liaison, create academic event calendar for event attendance and choose key events to attend, i.e. sports competitions, and reunions of various sports programs and teams from throughout the years -Work with the Director of Alumnae Representation as needed for alumnae/i attendance at events -The Director or committee members should attend one student or alumnae/i event or meeting per month which should be determined at the beginning of the academic year and have flexibility as needed -Conduct committee meetings as needed over the academic year -Submit reports for AAEB meetings and introduce resolutions for board action Qualifications: -Earned undergraduate degree from Simmons University -Attends all meetings of the Executive Board as well as other scheduled meetings -Devotes necessary hours/week on Association business and activities -Annual donor to the Simmons Fund of the College -Active in Alumnae/i Association activities -Strong interest in learning about the experiences of different alumnae and student group
